Songs of Innocence (For Short Story Slam Week 23)

When the music of band circles on the green,
and laughter is heard on the hill,
My heart is at vacation
and everything else is still.
It's always a delight to see my boys home,
and the glittering dews arise,
First comes orchards of bitterish clouds,
then dance raindrops of daydreams in the skies.
Oh, No, the day is still young,
Friends are texting messages on the phone,
We'rs not ready to go to sleep,
Imagery hills are covered with limitless space sheep.

Dog Tricks (Poetry and Humor)

Dog Trick #1 (Puppy Eyes)

How can a dog... make you smile
A wretched old dog with puppy eyes
How can a dog make you want to cry
Lying there knowing he's about to die

How can a dog make you think of Life
of the After-Life, and Other Lives
How can a dog make you realize...

How can a dog with puppy eyes
Looking at you trying not to cry
How can a dog with puppy eyes
Smiling goodbye

Dog Trick #2 (Wag the Tail)

I was in the park walking the dog today
When I saw a couple both with walking canes
A shopping bag between them they were bent and old
But suddenly they changed when they saw my happy dog

Whose tail was wagging back and forth so furiously
Indeed he kind of looked delirious to me
It made them laugh and smile it brought tears to my eyes
This couple still worthy of life
So eager and willing to smile

Roses (Short Story Slam W22 and Funny Bunny Fridays W10)

 I have never seen
a poem beautiful as a rose.
A rose whose sharp thorns stand
against the universe's soft breasts;
A rose that worships God all day
and blossoms to share beauty in her way;
A rose that prays to have summer-wear,
a butterfly of robins in her hair.
Upon whose winter snow has lain;
that closely lives with rain.
Poetry is written by folks like u and mi,
But only God can grow a rose tree!

I'm A Boat

I'm a boat,
You are the water,
My life is the wind that keeps me afloat
And sail cross the border.
You allow me to keep going
to erase life’s pain,
Although knowing
that we may lose each other again.
The future is unknown,
Yet you refuse to frown,
You sing me the most beautiful song
while I’m stuck and alone.
Like daughter,
Like father,
You are the water
that supports me to go further.
