On This 17th of July (For Poetry Potluck Week 44)
On this 17th day of July,
I decide to give myself wings to fly:
I will be visiting Mars
and collecting fireflies with a million jars;
I will be landing on the Moon
and eat my dinner without a spoon;
I will be knocking at the door of the Sun
and offer him a bottle of homemade wine;
I will be playing hide and seek with stars
and land on earth with no scars…
I will listen to the whispers of summer wind
while I begin to read your poetry, beautiful and grand.
