Born on reed beds,
The ugly duckling
keeps quacking and paddling.
.
Sickness healed,
Pain felt,
She's skilled.
.
As spring begins,
She turns
into a swan, grins.

That's a lovely kind of progress, Jingle! Perhaps we are all ugly ducklings on the way to becoming swans!
I'm always partial to the ugly duckling, myself. It's much more enjoyable to look for the beauty that goes unnoticed. Nice poem!

Lovely image and poem as always! Wishing you all the best for 2011, dear. TY for visiting my blog, while I was on a break. I broke my leg in December and still need physiotherapy, but it's getting better now.
I love those haiku and the pictures you chose to go with them. :D It's been dry here for the past two days and I've been gardening - it's been like Spring in my heart! :)

What a nice way to start the new year, as a swan!
Yes, I have known the duckling. I was the duckling, in a time of knowing. She is soul to me. Tears cried, growing pains. I loved this write.
This is wonderful. I love "ugly" duckling stories. Illustrations are delightful. Love your 2011 with carrots. Thanks for the smiles.
