Monkey Is Eight (Humor in Short Story Slam Week 7)

Monkey is eight,
Already, he has gained too much weight.
“No more coconut juice,
Water is the only drink you can choose.”
Mom says.
“No more banana pies,
Cut off those French fries.”
Dad cries.
“What about a story party near a beach,
and a safari in a jungle?”
Monkey gives his mumble.
Under a coconut tree,
Where space is open and free,
A family of three
can hardly agree.
They have NO fun
Until they spy a hunter with a gun,
“Run!”
Without hesitation, three monkeys start to run
Under the baking sun…As the hunter is nowhere to be seen,
Three monkeys begin to grin…
“Truce” wins over “truth”,
Monkey smiles, showing a missing tooth.
