The meetings and conferences of the AMS provide members of the mathematical community with an environment that is stimulating, rewarding, well-organized, and affordable. National Meetings

Generally known as the Joint Mathematics Meetings, the national meetings of AMS are held annually for the purpose of advancing mathematical achievement, encouraging research, and providing the communication necessary to progress in the field.

International Meetings

The AMS joins a host society from another country once a year to organize these meetings for members of the mathematical community both in the U.S. and abroad.

Sectional Meetings

The AMS holds eight sectional meetings annually. Generally, there is one meeting in the spring and one in the fall in each section of the U.S.

AMS Short Courses

The AMS offers one or two short courses each year in conjunction with the Joint Mathematics Meetings.

AMS Conferences

The AMS offers regularly scheduled conferences, usually held during the summer, in a relaxed atmosphere such as a university campus or a resort. The two types of conferences in this category are the Mathematics Research Communities and the AMS von Neumann Symposia.

Special Lectures

This is a Chinese name; the family name is Dǒng.
Dong Qing (Chinese: 董卿; pinyin: Dǒng Qīng; born 17 November 1973) is a Chinese television host.[1] Since 2005, she has hosted the annual CCTV New Year's Gala.
She has won the Golden Mike Award's for Television in 2001 and 2006, and has received Golden Eagle Award for Best Programme Host in 2006.[1]

Biography

Dong was born in a highly educated family in Shanghai in 1973, both her father and mother were graduates of Fudan University.[1]
Dong secondary studied at Jiaxing No.1 High School, she graduated from Shanghai Theatre Academy in 1993, where she majored in broadcast, then she studied at East China Normal University.[1]
Dong worked in Zhejiang Television from 1993 to 1995 and OTV from 1995 to 2002.[1]
From May 2002 to present, Dong worked in China Central Television.[1]
Dong hosted the CCTV New Year's Gala from 2005 to present.[1][2]

Personal life

Dong maintains a very low profile with her personal life. The only two relationships she has shared with the public are her first love (a Zhejiang University graduate student) and her relationship with a civil servant in Shanghai after she returned to Shanghai to start a new page of her career.
