Autumn Evening by Alice Anne Gordon

Leaves deepen to orange ember
as twilight comes,
sky drifts to smother the day,
swaddling memories in soft pink clouds.
Neon lights flicker, illuminating
windless trees, standing crooked.
Evening song edges towards the night.
